One of the most-awaited (or most-dreaded) events in a student’s life is receiving their report card. It is a way for them to concretely grasp how they performed in their classes. You can easily calculate and release final grades In Google Classroom once you’ve setup and used your grading system and Grades properly.
Releasing the final grade can be done by enabling some of the configurations in the settings. Here’s how to do it:
Go to the settings by clicking on the gear icon on the navigation bar. Scroll down to the Grading portion.
The overall grade calculation needs to be enabled. There are two systems in place that can be used: total points and weighted by category. Select an option between these two. Note: weighted by category will prompt you to create categories which will then be used to tag each grade-able material. The overall grade will be computed based on the weights assigned to each category.
Once a category has been selected, enable the Show overall grade to students by clicking on the button beside it. If the button turns blue, the grade is activated. This will automatically show the students their overall grade.
Once you’ve made the necessary changes, press Save.
You can download the student grades individually for all graded activities. Here’s how you can do it:
Go to Classwork and select one graded activity.
View all of the submissions by clicking the indicator for the number of submissions. You will then be redirected to the student submissions page.
From there, click the gear icon on the upper right. A popup will appear.
Press the Download all grades as CSV to export the grades for all graded activities.
The file that will be exported can be opened using any spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, where you can start performing specific analysis on your students’ grades.
