In online learning, communication is key! Announcements allow teachers like you to communicate important events or reminders to your students.
Class-wide announcements are done by using the Stream feature, which is for announcements that you want everyone to see on the homepage of your Classroom forever. Everyone in the class can also interact with the announcements by uploading materials, responding through comments, and many more. Imagine the Stream to be something similar to a Facebook wall where interactions are encouraged. Once you open a class page on Google Classroom, you will be redirected to the Stream. Here’s how to do it:
On the center of the page, you will see a box indicating “Share something with your class.” Press this, and the box will expand.
From the box, you can select the courses you want to post this announcement to, who can view the announcement, what the announcement is, and relevant files you want to attach.
You can choose where you will post the announcement under For, which will provide you a list of classes. Select the class/es you where you want to post.
You can also select who can view the announcement by clicking the button indicating “All students.” Select the option applicable.
You can type your announcement on the checkbox labelled “Share with your class.”
Lastly, you can add a Google Drive file, a link, a file, or a YouTube video using the Add button.
Once you’re done setting up your announcement, press the Post button to release it to your selected classes. You also have the option to schedule the announcement, or save the announcement as a draft.
