Welcome, Teacher! Logging in is the first thing that you’ll have to do to start using Google Classroom. You can do it in five easy steps:
Go to classroom.google.com and click Go to Classroom.
Sign in by entering your email address and password for your Google Classroom and click Next.
Accept any welcome message.
Choose I am a Teacher when asked to Pick your Role.
Click Get Started. At this point, you can now start creating your classes!
Tip: Don’t forget your login credentials! Make sure to write it down and keep your note in a secured and accessible place. Avoid saving your credentials in your computer to reduce security risks.
At the top left of the screen, there’s an icon in the shape of three horizontal lines that you can access to see a shortcut to all the classes that you are teaching. Let's call it a hamburger menu icon. Your classes are under the heading Teaching. You can also access your Archived classes and some account settings.
Beside each class icon, you’ll see the class name.
There’s a navigation bar with the following tabs:
Stream. It shows activity updates of your co-Teachers in the class and of your students. You can also share a post, where your students can leave a comment on. You may or may not attach files to these posts. They can either be released right away, scheduled at a later date and time, or saved as draft and be continued later. You can also modify the audience by having the flexibility to post content for the entire class, or for specific students only. Your Google Classroom Stream is your Facebook Newsfeed.
Classwork. All the learning materials as well as assessment materials can be found in this tab. Here, your students can find videos, PDF readers, assignments, quiz assignments and questions. The materials are organized by Topics, which will be the main headers.
People. A list of teachers and the students in the class are seen here. The page offers a convenient way of sending emails and inviting other users.
Grades. It shows you whether your students have turned in their assignments or not. This page also shows you a summary of grades that you have manually given your students as well as the class average.
We’ll go over these features in more detail later.
